While it's fairly well known that actor George Clooney is the nephew of the late singing star, Rosemary Clooney, I just learned today that actress Sigourney Weaver is the niece of the late musician / comedy star "Doodles" Weaver of Spike Jones's band.
It struck him full force, the unavoidable knowledge that he was riding through life on a fourth-class ticket.

A Caganer is a figurine depicted in the act of defecation appearing in nativity scenes in Catalonia and neighbouring areas with Catalan culture such as Andorra, Valencia and Northern Catalonia (in southern France). It is most popular and widespread in these areas, but can also be found in other areas of Spain (Murcia), Portugal and southern Italy (Naples).

I'm guessing that you might not be familiar with the rather niche TV show EuroTrash, from the mid 90's, presented by Jean Paul Gautier and Antoine De Caunes, we were treated to the Catalan Crapper each Christmas, making him quite well known in the UK.

Jazz pianist Thelonious Sphere Monk was named after his father.  Sphere was his maternal grandmother's first name.  He had a son named the same, who goes by TS Monk, to avoid confusion.

Queen's "We Will Rock You" started out as a vocal-warming chant for the band and later an idea for an advert.
The familiar stomp-chant began as...

WE WANT, WE WANT  BOVRIL!!!

This is a lie.   For some reason, I thought of this while shaving this morning.

Laika, the Soviet space heroine, was a street dog, chosen for her demeanor as much as her intelligence.  She was the first living creature launched into orbit.
