Is there anything in Reykjavik I could see and truly enjoy in two hours? I might have a layover there en route to London.

Keep in mind that, to me, breathing Bjork's  air is almost a good enough reason. :)

You can visit Laugardalshöll, site of the World Chess Championship 1972, often dubbed the "Match of the Century", in which American challenger Bobby Fischer defeated the Russian champion Boris Spassky.
Not only was that match memorable, I remember the preliminaries (especially the middleweight and light-heavyweight divisions) were quite something to see as well.

2 hour layover? You probably won't have time to leave the airport

I had considered spending a night there. Now I'm not even taking Iceland Air. But, thanks for the help. I'll save it for next time.

Northern lights might not be possible in August. It's sunny most of the day, isn't it? In August? I'm not sure. But, I love the Northern lights, Craig!

In August it is light pretty much all night. You do get sunset, but it merges straight into sunrise without really getting dark! Also Keflavik Airport is an hour or so on the bus from Reykjavik, so 2 hours would not be much good really. Mum White xxx
