I am planning on starting a blog soon, mainly a place for me to witter and ramble about teaching.
In the past I have used Blogger and am currently having a half hearted affair with Tumblr.
I want somewhere that is easy for me to use (as I don't know codes and stuff - I just want to be able to pick a layout and go) but also somewhere where I can connect with other people who are interested in / writing about the same or similar subjects. These are literally my only 2 requests.
I'm considering just going with Tumblr, *but* I will be mostly writing, not sharing pics and videos and stuff... so I'm not sure if there would be a better platform for me to use? Also, I find it slightly difficult to actually search for things that interest me on Tumblr, I can only seem to look at blogs which are suggested to me so I'm not sure I'd be able to find the right community there?
Any bloggers facy giving me any advice? Whether it's suggesting a platform you think would be good for me or giving me some insight into how to make one I've already used for this purpose? Thanks!

Wordpress is working well for me. Let's me make it looks more websitey than bloggy if I like too. (see first link in my sig)
http://www.WestArtAndGlass.com for hand-made glass and arty things.
http://baby-glass.com for pictures printed on glass.

I have a Tumblr which I've only written on so far. Link is in my sig.
Haven't done much with it (because I'm lazy) and only text entries, because my phone maked it very difficult to update, and it's blocked on my work connection.
Might use it more as it's intended when I get a new phone in a few weeks.

There's also posterous.
With Tumblr, as a non-Tumblr user, I find it very difficult to interact with their blogs. You need to have the option for guest-comments if you want to involve people in the conversation.

I use blogspot (Blogger) it's simple and it links seamlessly with my gmail.
It doesn't necessarily make you a bad person.

I use Wordpress.
I say use... I only post about once a quarter but hey ho. Anyway I like it and think it looks nice and smart, but I think it depends on what you're going to use it for. My posts are very wordy and with few images etc. so Wordpress is fine, however I think if you want to do other things like post lots of images and do all different things, I think blogspot or something might be as good if not better. I'm pretty sure I did a search and found some comparisons.
I think in general, if you're willing to spend the time on it, Wordpress blogs can look the most 'professional' by which I mean neat and tidy. However I think you can get more control over the page on sites like Blogspot or Blogger or whatever it is, the google one (you can on Wordpress too but I think you have to pay for extra functionality, or learn how to do all the funky stuff in the editors).
Hope that helps!
