......Before anyone says it, I have checked reviews elsewhere but I am totally overwhelmed by it all.
I have kinda rounded it down to a Blackberry 8520 or a Samsung Galaxy Ace. My budget is kinda low so I cant go too mad with it. I would really appreciate some input if you can. Thank yous very very much!!!!!! :) Xxxxx

I would say the Samsung. I have played on Siobhan's, and was considering one myself, but ended up going for an iPhone!

I don't think you would use the blackberry 'properly' enough to justify the cost. Remember that even though they are really popular, they were designed as business phones. Also, the messenger service is pointless unless you have a lot of friends who have blackberries too, and you get charged £5 a month for the privilege of having it.

Galaxies are fun, and do that cool 'swype' thing and won't be charging you money for a service you might not get much use out of.

First question - what do you do on your phone most? Because there's no point spending smartphone money if you don't actually need a smartphone.

I will only really be using it for calls and texting. I may dabble a bit with the other stuff on it but not very much. The 2 phones I said about are the same price. well, the Blackberry is £5 more. But that Blackberry is the cheapest Blackberry where as the Samsung is mid range I think. Thank you!!!! Xxx

as shelley said, i wouldnt bother with the blackberry , blackberry charge for the ise of their "blackberry services" like bb messenger etc which is pointless if you dont know anyone else with it!

In that case, you don't really need a smartphone and you definitely don't need a blackberry. Even if you want to do some simple smartphone-type stuff like check Facebook, email, twitter and the occasional web page you can get half-decent apps on most feature phones (as they call them now).

I'd look on a site like carphone warehouse and use their filter thing to pick what you want, then go on price once you've narrowed it down a bit. Whatever you do don't go into a shop and ask - they'll just try and sell you something you don't need.

Are you looking at a contract or PAYG?

Thomas just got me a Samsung. Posted Image Model T330G

I can text, talk, ride the wild web wave and take pictures. It was relatively cheap and it came with 1200 minutes. I've used about 25 so far. Seven of those were today saving Join Me. :)

I'm sure it's an excellent little communication device. I use it mostly as a watch.

I have a sim only contract (or something like that) with o2. I was given a blackberry but it broke recently so now Im using my nans spare phone until I can get a new one. I have to get a PAYG phone for my contract.

I used to have a touch screen samsung thingy but it got stolen when my bag got nicked about a year ago. I really liked my touchscreen (although it was a bit of a pain in the bum when wearing gloves), but I did have a few problems with it. Its just a bit annoying that I cannot remember which phone it was. Xxxxxx

First off, North Face do touchscreen phone gloves with special fingers :)

Second, I'd guess you had a Samsung Tocco or similar? What sort of price are you looking at paying?

PAYG always a good option. if you did decide on taking a contract ask your service provider if they offer a price plan that will cut you off once you have used your allowance.( on t-mobile it's called a "u-fix" priceplan, once your allowance has been used your phone becomes payg ). This is by far my favorite priceplan, and unless you make lots of calls internationally or to 08 numbers its hard to get charged for any extra

I advise you not to. I lost my phone in December & haven't replaced it yet. It's been wonderful.

I havent. I asked about it in the shop but Im still thinking about it. I dont think Ive ever spent so much on a phone so it makes me a little uneasy.
I had insurance on my first phone (long time ago - 13 years ago) but when it broke they said it had water damage so they wouldnt do anything. Do they still say this???? Xxx

It depends on the insurance.

I have insurance through my bank account and water damage is included, so have a look around at a few different places - don't just go with the standard from who you bought the phone for! :) Yay sparkly new phone!
