For those that don't know, the guy who originally wrote/directed The Walking Dead left/was fired after season 1. Here's what he planned for the start of season 2:

I really like season 2 so far, but this would have been a really cool episode as well.

The nice thing about that is that they could slot it in at any point really. So they could still come back to it, or something similar if the idea seems popular.

No reason it couldn't still be done to be honest. It doesn't rely on anything other than the actors they already have.

Interesting thing is the stuff that was cut from the first episode as well, if you go searching for pictures released before the 1st episode you an see they were supposed to have at least one stop right outside Atlanta.
I don't know if they taught you this in the land of fairies and puppy dog tails where you obviously, if not grew up, then at least spent most of your summers, but you're in the real world now! N'kay?
