I know the dust hasn't yet settled, and some people are still afflicated with K10 sickness, but with an eye towards planning something to raise money over the next twelve months do we have any ideas about charities? And was there anything good or bad about K10 worth bearing in mind for next year?

Ick. That sounds like it'll be an improvement.

Can I be the first to mention Ocean's 11 also revolves around a character called Danny?

Not that that's got anything to do with anything much, but I thought I'd get it out of the way.

EDIT: Giulia and I are going to try to collaborate on a story where we each write 11K words for each of 11 months, to have an 11 chapter long story by the time of K11. Giulia is keen to know the charity - this might give us some sort of theme for our story. Although any suggestions gratefully accepted. :-)

If not Ocean's 11 then I think the theme for next year should be Apollo 11, so that we can all wear bras on our heads.

Or, alternatively...

You know, if I could offer them a paycheck, I probably could supply midgets.

Also, this reminds me of a time when a friend (who will remain unnamed) offered to provide me with some of the disabled children he worked with, for a stand up routine. We decided against it in the end. Probably for the best.

Any 'Just Giving' experts out there? If I set up a Just Giving page supporting a charity, can it be changed once a definite recipient for K11 is decided on, or am I better off waiting til something is settled upon?

I'm not sure if we can all suggest charities, but if we can, I'd like to give my vote to ParkinsonsUK or MichaelJFox Org. Both these organisations raise awareness and research Parkinson's disease and they do such a lot of good work. Parkinsons disease is such a diverse thing, each person who has it has a slightly different form, and a lot of research is still needed to find the source and to find out the best ways to treat it.

A just Giving page is specific to a charity.

he money paid in to it goes direct to the charity, so you could not set one up without a charity I think.
If you changed the charity you were supporting, you would have to set up a new Just Giving page.

I could not set up one to share between 2 charities when I did my hair shave. i opened a special bank account and linked it to pay pal so people could donate like that, then I had to write cheques for the charities. The problem with that was that I could not do Gift aid. Mum White.

Cool, thanks for that. I'd looked into the site yesterday but it quickly became apparent I needed to select a charity before creating a page. But at least I have an account now.

Dunno about everyone else but I thought the spontaneous decision to do some RAOKing on the millennium bridge worked really well, so many happy grateful tourists :)
