...love this song so much it's almost sad?

I have been listening to MacArthur Park by Richard Harris for a couple of hours now and it has brought tears to my eyes and I have fallen in love. Does anyone remember when it as popular? Was it 1974?

That's my *sigh* song of the day.

Do you have one? :rainbow:

The way a crow shook down on me the dust of snow from a hemlock tree,
has given my heart a change of mood and saved some part of a day I had rued.

It came out in the late '60s, but I don't think I was aware of it too much, as I was pretty little. I think it was still fairly regularly played well into the '70s, though; once it ran its Pop/Rock course, it went over to Easy Listening stations pretty handily.

The other day, I was driving around in the greyness of a rainy day to Richard & Linda Thompson's "The End of the Rainbow". Felt like I had a rock in my throat. Man, if you are feeling pretty good at all, this song will take care of that, I'll tell ya what. Thing was, I couldn't help but replay the thing time after time.

On the other hand, it led me to a Richard Thompson listening frenzy...now Nortons and Indians and Greaveses won't do

I'll have a listen, Doug. They're Fairport Convention folks, right?

My sister told me Mom had the 45rpm of MacArthur Park and listened to it non-stop. That must be buried inside me somewhere.
