Is it better to buy £12 worth of cards direct from a charity, or buy £2 worth of cards from Tesco and give £10 to charity?

Charity Christmas Cards Is it worth it?

Philip and myself are looking to buy Christmas cards, and I think it might be nice to buy charity ones
However, I was wondering if that would actually give the most amount of money possible to charity.
Is it better to buy £12 worth of cards direct from a charity, or buy £2 worth of cards from Tesco and give £10 to charity?

Depends if they have pictures of cats on them. Cats in Santa hats preferably. Hope that helps.

If you buy cards from the shops that have a stand of Charity cards, then less goes to the charity. If you buy fom the charity direct it is much better, and places like Oxfam and Cancer research make it quite easy by stocking cards in their high street stores.
I know fron doing Webb Ivory for years for guides that I could get 25% profit on cards, and that was with Webb Ivory making their cut as well. I am sure the big charities must get a much bigger mark up than that on their cards.
The othe thing I like to do is get cards/gifts from Traidcraft or Tear fund, as they not only make a small profit for the charity, but they directly help the people working in the cooperatives that make them.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do, it's never a simple decision! Mum White xx

Thanks Mum White
In the end I have done a combo of the two - I bought cheap cards from the highstreet that give 10% to charity, and then gave a donation to the k10 build africa pot!
