This comes out tomorrow. Anyone getting it? It lookes excellent. I'm a bit of a fan of all the previous Elder Scrolls games & Bethesda in general, so I'm confident it's going to be awesome. That & the fact that it's set in an icy tundra suggest that this game has an outside chance of even being pefect for me.
On top of that It's £26 for what is supposedly another 80+ hour game. Which is fantastic value for money to see me through the winter.

The Dev diaries have been pretty interesting too if you're interested.

I do want to get it based on how splendid Fallout 3/Oblivion were, but I'm currently put off by the honking amount of time it'd require to even make a dent in it. I'm still only halfway through Deus Ex and want to get Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3 as well at some point.

Might have to put this one off for a bit. But on the plus side, that means I'll probably be able to pick up a game of the year edition with the inevitable DLC bundled with it!

Might be a while, the Fallout New Vegas GOTY has been announced for next Feb. 16 months after release.
I'm hoping the DLC for Skyrim will be easier to get into after finishing the game. The Fallouts ended after the main quest, which Elder Scrolls has never done. In fact it's confirmed Skyrim is free-play after the end of the main story & that once you've "completed" it procedurally generated random quests kick in, so in theory you could keep playing forever. Which makes it much easier for them to fit the DLC in at any point rather than requiring you to be at roughly a set stage in the main story (usually just before the end). So all the DLC will simply act as "the further adventures of..." I hope.

I want Uncharted 3 very much. Pining for it slightly, I loved the first 2 so. But I can't get a free copy & I refuse to pay over £30 for any game, ever. So I'm waiting for the first price drop.

Out of curiosity, where would one get this fine piece of entertainment for £26?

Yes & while you're playing it you can be said to be Skyrimming... Which sounds like an aerial acrobatic sexual manoeuvre.

7hrs in now. Awesome. Got myself a companion who joined me because I beat her in a bar fight. I've got some pretty decent armour that I've crafted myself now & am getting pretty good with both my duel weilding spells & my pair of magic axes.
Assaulting enemy encampments is fantastic. You can command your companion slightly more usefully that Fallout. Buff them up with spells & set them at the exit. Then take out a sentry or two to get the camps attention, when they all run out your companion takes the face off the first couple while you've snuck in the back way & taken out everyone from behind.
Shooting people off high places is particularly satisfying too, they do great swan dives.
Also, fighting people in the river at the edge of a waterfall was amazing. I used a frost spell & turned one into an ice cube that drifted over the edge.

I've still not fought a dragon, but I drifted from the main quest fairly early, so they probably don't start popping up until a few more set quests are done.

But Gamestation are owned by Game & I won't buy anything from them any more after their last 12 months worth of antics. Only £20 on Amazon now anyway.

Not yet - still finishing Deus Ex, then it's basically whatever is cheapest between Skyrim, Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3 (and possibly Skyward Sword) as to what I get next. Though still slightly daunted by the amount of time it will consume!

It is fairly massive.
I've just "finished" it, as much as you can finish such a game: I've completed the main quest & the 3 of the 4 main side quests that I wanted to & unlocked the "you've completed enough side quests & miscellaneous quests to be worthy of these achievements" achievements. All in taken me just over 100hrs. But it was rather excellent.
And now the radiant quests have kicked in, so there's plenty more to do & DLC confirmed for next year.

I've finished all of the companions quests, so I guess not! Mind you, I probably deserve it, I've been cheating like a champion with the Oghma Infinium bug.

Hopefully they'll start releasing their DLC soon, otherwise I'm going to have to revisit Deus Ex...

Bethesda have announced that they intend to stick to bigger DLC, akin to full expansions, so just to expect one or two big ones. So I imagine the first might still be a little while off.
