Excellent review that pretty much sums up my attitude to it too.

Battlefield 3 on the other hand is rather excellent. Just don't get too excited about the jets, they're bastards to control & even once you've got the knack they're really only useful against each other.

I dont entirly agree with that review at all, mainly because you could swap "mw3" in the title for ANY shooter of this nature, they're all the same! but thats what makes them great! I didnt buy MW3 because i fancied something utterly groundbreaking and different! i got it so i can waste my time shooting teens in the head and because its familiar territory. Its Pacman afterall!

Blackops IMO bombed, never worked online properly, and tried to do things differently that they both dug themselves a hole ( see having to ban people creating avatars of swastikas!) and ruined what they had already created ( waw ). MW3 yes more of the same ingredients but again has been refined a little more in its approach and taken the best bits from previous games.
The main campain though im only a short way through so far has been really enjoyable.

If anything i think this review says more about this rewiewer than anything else. I'm not sure what exactly he was expecting! cloaking devices or something?

and you cant really compare it with BF3, It would be like comparing a cat hunting a mouse and itchy and scratchy! ( the latter being mw3! :) )

Hahaha. That would be a fair comparison.

I agree with him in that there is no growth in the series though. That's what he's complaining about. MW3 isn't bad in & of itself. It's just MW2 with some reskinned maps. Which in turn, was CoD4 with some reskinned maps. Very few other adjustments.
Other multiplayer series tend to have more substantial changes to them:
- BF3 has hugely improved graphics, massively increased player cap, dynamic movement capture & destructable scenery over it's predecessor.
- Uncharted 3 has vastly improved melee combat & verticality of mp maps & new mp modes.
- Unreal Tournament adds DOZENS of new mutators, maps & weapons to each outing.
- Half-Life 2 added a revolutionary physics engine.
- GTA just improves almost everything slightly with each outing.
Etc, etc.

MW just doesn't change. It's always one of the most expensive titles on sale, with the most expensive DLC & all you're getting (single player campaing aside) is an entire package which is akin in scale of content to what other games would package as a single DLC for the last game. Rather than a sequel.

A slightly more favourable review, but with similar criticisms.

I like it :) Although the mission in London with the bomb and the girl, there's no need really.

Couldn't have given less of a shit frankly. It was meaningless arbitrary shock factor & controversy courting. And because it was obvious & you knew they were doing it, it failed. Stupid scene.

im guessing that was the bit that at the start of the game it allows you to chose whether or not you play that bit!. like biddle though it lacked impact mainly because i thought they were doing the world a favor. London is a bit gip afterall :P
