My mum is pretty damn awesome. She's lived with Diabetes since she was in her mid twenties (she's now 61) and as had to put up with a fair amount with it. At 59 she finally had her driving license taken away (she's lost the middle bit of her vision due to diabetes) and, as a still not old lady, it was really hard for her to cope with living in LITERALLY the middle of nowhere with no bus service, relying on other people for lifts to all the many many activities she loved.

She's gradually got used to living without transport, and has managed to get a routine together so she can swim again (one of her favourite things to do). She is therefore taking part in Diabetes UK's "Swim 22", where you have between 22 August to 22 November to swim the equivalent of the channel (22 miles). She's doing about a mile a day, and is already well in to the total and is loving it.

However she's only been sponsored 20 measly pounds and REALLY wants to try and raise £200.

If any of you can find a couple of quid to throw her way it would really make my day because, well, she's awesome and she's had a rough time, and this would make her very happy.

You can sponsor her here http://www.diabetesc...reynolds-swim22

Thank you!

Totally going to sponsor her - she's my fairy grandmother! (I might not say that when I sponsor her. It might make her feel old beyond her years! )

When I have my wallet within reach at some time tonight, consider it done. x

If she's at the same address I'll post her a card and some money. Okay? :)

Thank you, Hannah. That is indeed the address I have for Val. I get paid on October first and will send cash and card then. :)

I forgot all about this while the forum was down.

Thursday I made a special card and sent some money.

Did she finish yet?

She finished today! She wanted me to thank you all from the bottom of her heart, she's been massively touched by your generosity and (including the money raised offline) has exceeded her £200 target massively and got nearly £500.

You are wonderful.

Rachel - thank you so much. My Mum just phoned to say she'd received your letter and was really touched.

She's been quite overwhelmed by all of this, yay for Joinees!
