This is excellent.
Phenomenal game once it gets going. It's something you really have to take your time in; read all the emails, PDA's & newspapers & talk to everyone. There is a wealth of backstory & scene setting to be found by doing so & the universe is so beautifully crafted & rich in atmosphere if you play it slow & soak it in.
It's also a great stealth game, I really specialised that way & I TOTALLY recommend specialising & commiting to that choice. Either that way or as pure combat (which I haven't tried yet), but I think stealth is more fun as long as you're patient. Even besides the huges play style differences you force on yourself by specialising, there are so many ways to play the game & complete a number of the quests.
It's a worthy successor to the original.
It's fairly pretty, though not the prettiest game; remarkable that a modern AAA title could have hardly any shadows, especially one that relies so heavily on stealth! But it's testament to it's quality that it still works. The cityscape backgrounds are all beautiful.
Also, it's got a great score.
I'm about 25hrs in & approaching the end I think. A little bit hooked. I'll have a break after, but am already looking forward to a future replay. Which is rare, before even finishing it a first time.
Awesome stuff.

I'm about an hour in if that. I fell off a box, and a man shot me. Bah!

Oh yes, I've died quite a few times. It takes a while to work out what makes a noise & what doesn't & how far those noises travel (though there's an aug for that later). If anyone here's a noise you make they're on you like stink & what with those guys guys being fairly good shots & a single headshot killing you outright it's not good to go buffeting boxes & stuff around.
The problem with going stealthy rather than tough-guy, is that there's no way to just push through, if you slip up, you're dead.
The other problem is that David Sarif sounds like Rich Fulcher to me & once I realised that I couldn't stop hearing it...

I did discover a somewhat odd break in logic. On your very first proper mission, I took out the first guy you come across. I wasn't seen, and dragged him into the little spare room. I then had a mooch round the room - after about a minute, two of his mates turned up at the door and shot me.
I tried again, ditched him in the room and then quickly went outside and hid behind a box. This time, nothing. He was still missing, nothing else had changed, and yet this time they didn't care.

Finished this at about 30hrs, so a good lengthy game & there's certainly some replayability in it. It gets progressively better throughout the game I thought, except for the last "level" & the ending, which, while not terrible, was a bit over simplified & wasn't really up to scratch with the handful of hours previous. The ending is literally choose your own ending as well, which was massively too straight forward.
Damn good game overall though.

I'm into it being all optimistic and 'good', might play it again being bad, on easy and try not to kill anyone at all
