Anyone want a Garmin Nuvi? Works fine, but the battery is a bit elderly now so you'll need to plug it in most of the time.

Only caveat is that it comes with a third-party charger that can be a bit temperamental. PM me if interested!

SOLD! (in the sense of it has now been taken, rather than any actual money changing hands)

I have a Garmin sat nav & I feel so sorry for the woman inside it. One day I took a rather convoluted route rather than listen to her, & I could almost hear her sigh before she uttered the words 'recalculating'....though she did try to send me into the sea at St Ives once, thank goodness it wasn't dark!

I'd have been willing to come and take it from you, but I wouldn't have had a clue how to get home again...

The one we used in Italy always, always began by telling us to turn around. 99% of the time we were in extremely narrow, one-way streets. Not helpful! So we relied on my atlas and guidebook maps. This made Ms SatNav hot around the collar (read as 'around the plug hole') and then mysteriously turned into a foreign-speaking man. We bound and gagged her for the next week-and-a-half... I wouldn't have changed a thing. :)

I like my Garmin Nuvi 350.... he has taken us all over Europe, even on roads that didnt exist at the time,... and he is even better when we are in other countries and he tries to pronounce things badly :D

The Garmin woman does seem to get quite huffy when disobeyed. But then she does pick very odd routes..

Mine says 'recalculate' rather then 'recalculating, but she says it such a way that I am sure it was cut down from: 'Oh, you're going that way? I'll just recalculate the route then, shall I? Honestly, I sometimes wonder why I bother...' Posted Image
Maybe they thought it would harm sales?

I love that there is somehow a way to record your own satnav directions. I have been known to have a good giggle just at the idea of this. Because you could have that whole thing as your 'recalculate' message. Although I imagine having a satnav that goes "At the end of the road, turn right. ....................NO WAIT, I MEAN LEFT!" would get tiresome after probably just one or two corners.

I'd also have "um... not sure" for one of the directions. I wouldn't tell anyone which one though.

I think LouNav would cause several crashes. Or at least delays in destination times.

But at least when you got there, it'd go "HOORAY!!! We made it!"

I like this...Maybe you could load it up with optional hypothetical questions to ponder while you drove, say, if you didn't like the radio, were out of reception range, etc but still wanted to listen, I think it would be a SMASH!
