Pub quiz an idea...

If I were to organise a pub quiz with simultaneous online broadcast so groups could join in remotely, would people be interested?

There could be a core location where teams could physically come along to, and the rest could be run via the Joinee chat room/video chat or similar (with Dropbox for picture rounds and so on). Basically a meet, but a meet you don't have to be at in person to be part of. In fact, if you have the set up you could even do it in your lounge in your pants. So to speak.

Thoughts?

Sounds good.
Only problem with people participating via the internet is that they will also be on the internet... which probably contains all the answers & is a bit of a temptation.
But I still think it'd be a lot of fun!

Great idea. And there could always be a tiebreak question or two, like how many 5-letter-words words (in the OED) can you make from, say, the word 'antidisestablishmentarianism'. Then it wouldn't matter if people got answers from t'internet'.

Shotgun Team Biddlington. We'll definitely triumph in the pub elements. I hope there will be rounds on duelling, 18th century surgery, absinthe and late 80's early 90's point and click adventure games.

Yo dude,

I've been a pub quiz master, writing and presenting my own quizzes in London and Bournemouth for years. If there's anything I can help with from picture rounds, to questions... or tips on rules etc, just let me know! I even have a radio voice-over fella who's always been kind enough to do me snippets for my quizzes (i.e. 'Welcome to the Burlster's Pub Quiz, with the Drunkest Quiz Master in London') etc :)

By the way, within the quiz, rule number 2 is this: "Please refrain from using mobile phones. Just remember, if you all use mobile phones, the only people winning will be the mobile phone companies", haha!

Ta for offers of advice - I've run a few pub quizzes myself for the place I used to work so have some stuff already stashed. Though I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to work the ever-popular guess the crisp flavour round over the Internet yet...

Right, I'm thinking sometime in October for this - mid to late probably. Would people in the south be up for having at least some folk at a physical venue and then others "dialling in"?

I want in! I enjoy the idea of being at the actual thing as well, rather than just dialling in remotely. If I'm free that day, obviously.

The last quiz I did was at work. My team won. Just thought I'd mention it.

Right, this kind of fell by the wayside with the forum being down and then it getting too close to K10, but I reckon it's still a good idea and might be a good low effort "meet" for early next year. So are people still interested?

In a pub quiz last night I contributed -1 points to my team across the entire quiz. All I could do was say 'yes you're right' when people worked out an answer before me, and once I overrode someone's correct answer with my incorrect one. So basically you all want me on your team.

Ok, my current thinking is:

As many people as poss. at a physical location, and for those "dialling in", a text feed on the joinee chatroom and either a skype conference call OR whatever system Joinee Radio used to use?

Will have to look into the techy stuff!

I'm in for a pub quiz!

Maybe less in if it's GGF what with the normal family ties, but that's OK. I'll play along remotely if I can, if not I'll just join in next time (unless that's at GGF too. In which case I'll play along remotely if I can, if not I'll just join in next time. (unless that's at GGF too. In which......... etc etc etc ))

Sean's team sounds too northern for my liking. There should be a more southern team in opposition. ;)
