Edinburgh Fringe Festival

I'm going to Edinburgh next weekend and will hopefully see some fantastic acts. Never been to the fringe festival or Edinburgh before, so if anyone can recommend any good venues to visit, or particular acts of interest, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks

Saw 'Lilly Through The Dark' & 'Angel Rust' last year, both amazing & beautiful gothic storytelling, Lilly in particular. Our pick of the festival. Jo programmed it last month at her venue & it sold out almost immediately.
Horizon Arts - Uberhategang
Saw their show 'Heroin(e) for Breakfast' last year & it was phenomenal. Probably the most harrowing theatre I've ever seen, but also managing to be funny. Well worth seeing anything by them I'd wager.
Ian Bok and Maarten Heijmans - The Crying Cherry
Not seen this yet but am reliably informed that it's stonking brilliant. "Legends about Japanese psychological banditry", need I say more.
The Penny Dreadfuls
I haven't even read up on what they're doing this year but they're comedy legends. I can't imagine them doing anything that isn't hilarious. Book ahead though as they always sell out.
Not to mention some particular favourite stand-ups of mine; Kevin Eldon, Josie Long & Stewart Lee.
Also... I saw a surreal play last year called 'HORSE' which was utterly bonkers. Really shook me up it was so dark & confusing. It wasn't a particularly popular piece but I really quite liked it & I wish I could remember who it was by. If you see anything else that says "From the maker(s) of HORSE" then that has my personal recommendation. Also please post back on here asap afterwards so I can find the blasted thing!
Have an awesome festival!

You should see Sammy J, Sound and Fury, and Tripod. They are all very different to each other, but all very funny. I've only seen Sound and Fury once (after about 6 years of waiting after my friend told me how ace they were) but I laughed just about every single second of the show, to the extent that I physically ached when I left.
I'm seeing Tripod in London tonight.

I was in Edinburgh last year but far too briefly. If I manage to get up there again this year (please planet earth let me) I will be seeing anything involving Sam Simmons. Oh and probably Wit Tank because they were cracking last year, and my attempts to see them at the Leicester Comedy Festival this year were affected heavily by drunken endeavour.
Love, love, love Edinburgh.

When I think of Sam Simmons, I think of him pretending to be a cat. I can't even remember if I've seen him pretending to be a cat. But I probably have.

If anybody is at a loss, all this week at 1pm in The Space @ Jurys Inn there is a show. I realise that usually people prefer more information than that to start, but I have forgotten what it is called. Remembering things like that has become difficult since I renamed Monday 'Rumday'.
What I do know is that the girl who is putting it on is a very fond friend (
Oh and no, I'm not going. I'm all far away and that. But I would if I could, and the drinks offer still stands. You know when a company does a 'love it or your money back' thing, and you secretly enjoyed the microwave pizza but claim your money back anyway? Do it, I'll still buy you drinks. I'll buy you two if we get on.
Anyway, not to worry if you can't or don't fancy it. But if you've got a gap in your schedule, give it a thought
