Today I will be, and I challenge you to, leave something nice in a coin return slot.

So far: 24p and a couple of chupa chups in a parking meter, an Oyster top up machine, and a bus ticket machine.

Still to come: The local phone boxes, and a supermarket self service tills.

Change is a nice idea, but Dave - would you really eat a Chupa Chup you found in a ticket machine? Or give it to your child? Or want to be the station staff to have to clean out the sticky mess when it melted in the heat?

How about a mini keyring, or a stamp? Useful, and less meltable :)

This is one thing I have thought about, if you gave someone a sausage roll, would they look at you as if you may have handed them a Rohypno-sausage roll?

I know this is perhaps and indictment on society because everyone (except vegetarians) should love sausage rolls, when people hand out edible items have you received positive results?

While I haven't done it myself, I believe the bigger meets involving sweetie-distribution are quite well received. I guess it depends on the recipient really. Some would welcome the friendliness - others would be suspicious of it. My parents always told me never to take sweets from strangers. I've stuck with that advice and haven't gotten into trouble yet. Then again - they never told me not to take sausage rolls from strangers... ;)

The sweet giving out on the December Karmagedon march is usually quite popular. Still I think about a third of people who actually look, then turn away.

I did give one of my chupa chups to a chugger at lunch time, and he seemed quite grateful.
