Ok, I'll suggest this once, as I'm not bothered about doing it, but the way I see it my inability to risk damaging my ankle again wouldn't stop me from providig the first properly reffed Nvs match ever.

I've played for both teams, and despite my obvious devotion to The Mighty North, in the interest of a good sporting competition I'd play a fair game and remain impartial.

Thoughts?

Isn't part of the fun to have a ref that doesn't know what they're doing...Is K coming this year?

Speaking from the sidelines (well, the figurative Team North terraces), I would endorse Thomas as ref.  He does fail in the basic pre-requisite of knowing nothing about football, but more importantly he has history on both sides so would be impartial and I think authoritative.  Go for it Mr Rushton!

I've tried to post to this thread twice already, but yes, I'm OK with Tom as the ref.

K is due to be back last year, and I am in no way ok with a former north captain giving desicions against the north.

I'm pleased to report that Tome was a very fair and impartial official - giving offsides against both teams, and even admitting that he had let quite a few team south offsides go, just to show he wasn't biased.

Massive props also to Stooz and Tom (Joe? Someone anyway) for agreeing that the south's second 'goal' in the first half had, in fact seen the ball go out of play in the build-up. To both of you, I apologise for my apoplectic fit of rage when it looked like it would stand.

I particularly liked Stooz's comments that it was more important in this match to be a sportsman. I never knew dirty southerners had such depth of character.

WTF is with all this niceness between the teams? THERE ARE ONLY JUST UNDER 55 WEEKS UNTIL KICK OFF!

If you persist with this namby-pamby "we all get along" attitude you'll simply force my hand into a return next year. What's happened to the aggression, the hatred, the violence? I didn't even see Stooz get elbowed in the face once this year.

Most relaxed, friendly football in years, and t'was excellent excellent fun. I'll take that over the oh-so-hilarious banter any day cheers :)

Sorry Tom, I slipped there. All to encourage your return of course.

And I'd rather have the banter. The only reason it didn't happen this year is that, as underdogs, we didn't want to draw too much attention to the game. It was the south's job to get the vitriol flowing this year, but, being such giant girly wussies, they didn't dare.

To redress the balance:

The south - a great bunch of dickheads.

Team South agreed between ourselves that we would be gracious in victory and magnanimous in defeat, like the true gentleman and ladies that we are,
and we intend to continue in that vein for the build-up to 2011.

Nope, but duly rectified now. Although it has to be said, it was pretty odd doing it in a dimly lit attic room in Yorkshire, just hasn't got the same "umph" to it. And Tom, forget banter: did you SEE the bruise I gave Cooke? I'm so proud of myself :) And I got mud in the process! Go me!

Excellent.

Also, I can't help feeling that actively not banging on about how awesome and magnificent and truely fantastic we were can only help to irritate Team whatever they are called just that bit more.
