Hello all

Further to discussions here, I thought I'd throw the matter out to a poll. I know it's a year away but people have always wanted the longest possible notice for this, so hopefully this will be helpful in resolving when it's to take place with as much planning time as possible.

The early August weekend is traditional, and would fit in with Scottish school holidays. Weather might also be (on average) a bit better, but it is the day after the Great British Beer Festival.

The late August weekend fits in with the bank holiday in England and Wales, giving Monday for travel time. Scottish schools (but not unis) will have returned.

The result? You decide! I'll leave the poll until a week today.

I've voted for the second one just for the personal reason that I pretty certainly wouldn't be able to make the first.

I find it very hard to know what it is that I'm doing next month, let alone next year. I guess we'll see closer the time.

And thanks for the postcard you sent us.

I'm going for bak holiday weekend, was gutted we couldn't make it this year, the likelihood of us being at The Big Chill Festival again next year is incredibly high and I'm guessing they pick the same weekend each year.....

Next year however we shall be taking proper holidays so we will be able to come up to Scotland whenever...
Let me apologise now if I hurt anyone's e-feelings.

I'd really like to bring Andrew up to one of these (especially as it's quite near home for him). Will talk to him about whether it'll be a goer next year. I guess we won't know for sure until we work out what's happening with jobs, holidays etc - but I'll at least talk to him.

I should be able to do either dates, but I think the earlier date would be better, don't know why.

I also voted for the second one

because the chances of me being sober enough to leave a beer festival at 9ish and get to a sleeper train seem slim :D
Plus i could make a little holiday of it and see if matt is up for free range camping on the Isle of Skye before/after the weekend!

matt?

I'm slightly better off with the earlier one, but could probably do the latter one for the joy that is Joinverness. Guess I'm abstaining then!

can I change my vote?

Apparently I got the weekend wrong. So I'd like to switch my vote to the later weekend.

I'm not sure if you can, Angel. Best just cast two votes for the other option!

Right, two more days of voting, people!

I see a 'Delete my vote' button under the poll - does that work?

Well it seems I am somewhat absent-minded. Can't believe I forgot about this! Right, that's the date pretty clearly chosen by the masses. Best do a proper thread...
