They're all much better, at least the first four Doctors (and the seventh, McCoy, in my opinion, but that might be a case of "which Doctor did you grow up with?" syndrome) anyway.

Peter Davidson without any doubt is the best Dr. Wiliam Hartnel was just too grumpy. Peter Troughton too jumpy, John Pertwee suffered from poor scripts and lack of BBC funding, and Tom Baker as great as he was just didn't cut the mustard, and the rest are much of a muchness.. although the Sylvestor MCcoy episode where the daleks first climb stairs is AWESOME!..... and so now with the projector in our living room and the video player hooked up I am going to enjoy watching all my old school videos.

I love Doctor Who.. :D

Dammit just need to get the Peter Cushing movies on DVD and all will be good *sigh*

Well my man Richard (who is much of a knowledge on all things Who) said that the new outfit made him think of Patrick Troughton - and he saw it as an homage in that sense

The second best Doctor in my opinion & that's in part due to budgetary & conventional restraints in the storytelling & shortness of lifespan. If he'd had had a long & unfetterd run as The Doctor I think he might be my favourite.

Is it? I thought the forum auto-shrunk these things.

Oh well, here's the website anyway:

Incidentally, the website has confirmed John Simm as the Master will be the villain for the final episode(s) of Tennant's doctor.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh :D

Please, please let Simm tone it down a bit and just be more menacing ( Tho I'm guessing since it's Tennant's last episodes) we know he can do it.

Just got RT and seen the New Photos (OK they re not that new as they ve been on this topic for a while).....The New Companion is very nice. I dont think the costume for the new Doctor is that bad (but i hope he un-rolls his trousers legs, it just looks like he has come back from paddling in the sea, put his shoes back on and was then distracted and forgot about his trousers....but then with a companion like that.....). Im thinking of having my hair like that (his hair, not hers)

I ll miss David Tennant. He has been great. After the loss of Eccleston, the programme improved ten fold with him in the part.

I hope they give David Tennant's Dr a good send off.

I don't mind the text - it's quite retro, I seem to remember a similar logo before - but the Initials Tardis no.

i saw matt smith in a play last year. it was called "that face" and was about a disfunctional middle class family. he was wearing a night dress for alot of it, but aside from the wardobe malfunction, he was an impressive actor.

odd choice for the doctor though, imho. i thought a slightly older actor might be cast.

So did Stephen Moffet.

He has been very open about the fact that he thought the Doctor was getting too young and he planed to hire an older actor. Apparantly though Matt Smith just blew him away in the auditions and that is why he got the role.

By which I mean, his audition was very good. I do not wish to start a rumour that Matt Smith got the role by dishing out sexual favours.

Heehee! That day's already marked on our calendar - we've earmarked it for snuggling on the sofa under a blanket, with Doctor Who and a takeaway (of my choice, apparently). Can't wait!

Well that was alright, but it wasn't overly scary despite the claims and I'm not sure I quite understand why RTD now seems to want the Doctor to come over as a bit of a power-mad git. Scorched Earth policy?

Still looking forward to xmas, but I have to be honest that part of that is because it means that the RTD era is over.

agreed, really not that scary and didn't like not liking the doctor. shame. usually want to watch it all over again but RTD just keeps doing the same thing over and over again so it's not exciting any more. looking forward to la moffat but will be sad to have no more Tennant to lust after. but hopefully will be worth it.

edit to add - the music was pish and the robot was really annoying.

I didn't find it scary, but I did think it was very well acted - I actually felt uncomfortable watching it in parts.

The Doctor went a bit tosser-ish at the end, which seemed pointless. Captain Brooke was the only other character that any sympathy was created for, everyone else was just cannon fodder that kept wasting screen time & the robot was embarrassingly crap. The music was far too powerful, not to mention far too loud. Terrible job on the levels, a few snippets of dialogue were actually drowned out by background music. It's called background music for a reason. That reason being, it's in the background.
I thought it was one of the more disappointing episodes this season (I know it's a special, I mean including the last season).
The Christmas double bill should be decent, what with John Simm, I figure they can't totally balls it up with two great actors in it & besides RTD will be leaving at the end of it, so I'll be smiling no matter how it ends.

Best episode in ages. It's always so much better when the Doctor is largely helpless - it's no fun when the hero is more powerful than the adversary.

As Elliot said, the Doctor went a bit tosser-ish at the end, but that made the ending only a bit rubbish, rather than the usual RTD atrocious finale.

The teaser for the Christmas special was awful.

I thought him being a tosser at the end was brilliant, you saw the dark side of the doctor and gives a better excuse for his exit, that he has to die rather than become too arrogant and powerful!
