I won't be watching it when David Tennant leaves. Mainly because I never watched it before him either and he was my only reason to watch!!

And on the fanciable scale I'd say she's far fitter than he is! Plus she's a red-head and I sort of dig them

But Mikalix pointed out that it's hopefully a good indicator that they're not going to play him 'y00t' even tho the actor's a wee one.

She died didn't she? Assuming your talking about the one in the last series. If you mean the one that may have, posibly existed back in Patrick Troughton's days that bestowed him with his granddaughter then I have no idea.

When it comes down to it (and it's a while yet - 12 regenerations means 13 doctors, so we've got 2 to go), I suspect it'll just be "oh, here you go". The Timelords have already figured out how to resurrect the dead and give them whole new lifespans as shown by the Master, so I think the "is this the last doctor?" thing will be an inevitable anticlimax. And spoil things a bit when they solve it and he can go on for another x many regenerations.
Though what would be excellent is if they ended the whole series forever with the 13th doctor regenerating into William Hartnell (or rather a look alike, what with him being very dead indeed) and have the whole thing as a temporal paradox. But that's about as likely to happen as George Lucas going "Sorry everyone, I messed up - I'm letting someone else re-do the prequel trilogy so they can get it right this time!"

I can think of one decent way to do it, The Master stole the body of another timelord, thus all his regenerations. We don't know how many he's on now, well, John Simm was at least the 3rd, but that could be it. So if the Doctor took The Masters body (or was thrown into it accidentally so as not to harm his moral purity) then he could theoretically have 9 or 10 more lives.
I can't think of any other way that wouldn't feel tacky.

No he didn't
He was brought back to life by the timelords and given a whole new bunch of regenerations. That wa sbecaus eof the Time War, and the Aster being the only Time Lord who could realistically fight the Daleks.
He was supposed to have the bodies as a boon for helping... but he ran away and became human (Derek Jacobi) so that the coucil couldn't find him

I havnt seen much in the way of the old episodes so I dont see the paying homage side.

They're all much better, at least the first four Doctors (and the seventh, McCoy, in my opinion, but that might be a case of "which Doctor did you grow up with?" syndrome) anyway.
They're all rather relevant to the character as a whole, since they each seem to have magnified a certain element of his persona, or at least magnified it in a different fashion. I think, that the new Doctor (about whom I am unsure, due to a combination of my not being previously aware of Matt Smith, a dislike of change & a mistrust based on where Doctor Who has been going on & off for the last few series) should & will be based on his presence & personality rather than his outfit. Which, even if it were important, could be changed without any real impact to the show whatsoever.
And punctuate your damn sentences man.
