It was nice to meet you all on Good Friday for my first meet. However I found the experience quite overwhelming as I suffer from Social Anxiety especially in large groups. So I hope I was not perceived as being rude or aloof.

However I did get a lot out of the day and may attend a future one.

It was nice to meet you Alex. Although it was brief as I had to follow the small person.

It was nice to meet you Alex. I would have been more enthusiastic about meeting you but I was very tired.

Great to have you along, Alex - I'm only sorry I didn't jump on the opportunity to say hello when I had the chance (the sofa in the first pub of the day was much too comfy!). Look forward to meeting you properly next time you're out and about :)

Hello Alex, lovely to meet you. So glad you braved it along.

And to be honest, social anxiety or not, the first meet is always the hardest, so to speak! Your next one, when there's familiar faces etc, will be much more fun. I know that was the case with me.

See you again soon no doubt.

What you should have done was go round asking people about their first meet. You would have heard some that would make your first meet seem nice and tame.

My first meet I got increadably drunk increadably fast then got us all thrown out of the pub and ended up uncontious in bed by about 10.30 or something.

Hey Alex!

It was lovely to meet you, even though we did only chat briefly. I do remember showing you my stingray* though.

I was very impressed tha you made it all the way from Somerset just for a few hours!

What the others say about first meets feeling intimidating is SO true, but hopefully we'll see you again and it WILL be a bit easiernext time.

H.

xx.

Hi Alex, I'm exemplary at forgetting who I've met, mainly due to drunkenness. I remember speaking to an Alex, but I recognised them so perhaps that wasn't you. The first meet is a tough one for any person- I'm a cocky loudmouth on the forum and I'm still timid a lot of the time at meets three years after joining.

It sounds like you enjoyed yourself, so I'm delighted and hope that you'll be at more meets in the future!

Alex was cool

Nice to meet you mate, and hope to see you at future meets, when you don't have to get up at some ridiculous hour of the morning.

I did my first one there - it was the best way to get your feet wet - seemed a lot bigger last year! And probably was!

Technically my first meet was K4, but as i only stayed five minutes technically GGF last year was my first meet. I think it seemed bigger last year, but i suppose i knew everyone this time around.
Although I'm SURE there were more people still at the pub at closing on Friday last year.

And Team South had a FULL BLOODY TEAM!

^ That makes me feel so much better!

My first major meet was K3, which was massive, but I knew a few people from tiny meets in Exeter (sadly, the Exeter collective is now scattered afar and asunder, parted are those who were throwing ducks, hugging goths and posting sweets through letterboxes that day), and that made things a lot easier. It's fairly easy to get utterly overwhelmed by everything that's going on, but as far as I can tell you've just got to keep going to meets, and as you get to know people things get a lot less scary. You didn't appear to be aloof or rude to me, but then I have no memory of having spoken to you. I apologise if I did meet you, but I was rather hammered.

Anyway, well done on attending your first meet! Keep up the good work.

Did you play? Then don't whinge.

My first MAJOR meet was GGF 3 which was carnage, but I eased myself in with a York mini meet before that. It doesn't make the big ones any less daunting though, so we're pleased you came!
