Saw superbad last night, the bluray version has a superbadometer, which measures swear words, sexual innuendo and "McLovin'".
AWESOME film.

Tonight, we have Lost in Space (1998).

Saw the new Simon Pegg film last night. It was very funny but not hilarious and I much prefer 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Shaun of the Dead'. Still, I did enjoy it.

Altered States and Tideland... My mind is slightly more f***ed up than it previously was.

Altered States is a movie i get the feeling that i should have seen by now. It was like fear and loathing() made with the intention of scaring the viewer. Will perhaps be the first dvd inducted into my new collection.

Tideland, directed by Terry Gilliam is beautiful. Or at least the direction and vivid landscapes are. The story is a little off the wall, but given it's a gilliam that is none too surprising. Almost like alice in wonderland for adults, though i heard pan's labyrinth described as that one time so perhaps it's more alice in wonderland for adults under the influence or under sedation wearing a straight jacket. Worth a watch if only to see a field looking more alluring than ever you will elsewhere.

Saw The Day After Tomorrow on TV last night. It was far worse than I imagined. After a while it was like they didn't care about how ridiculous everything was, from the plot to the acting. Plus the main character was trying so hard to be Harrison Ford it was embarrassing.

For Keeps? - Molly Ringwald has to grow up fast on the mean streets of Kenosha, Wisc. when she is faced with an unexpected teenage pregnancy.

Chained Heat - Linda Blair has to grow up fast when she is sentenced to prison for vehicular homicide. The warden is corrupt and all, but our Linda makes out okay. Say what you want about Women in Prison flicks, but they do promote an elevated awareness of hygiene through their numerous shower scenes.

Dennis Ruddy Quaid. Best hero called Dennis ever.

I may have watched the E4 advert for it too much.

Yes, we started half-watching that, but weren't paying much attention so ended up watching Buzzocks instead. Much better!

"My Blueberry Nights"
saw it yesterday and I really liked it.
In addition, it is the first time that I heard the original voice of Jude Law (and not the dubbed German version) - very hot.
What kind of accent is that?

He's from South-East London but he did go to a good school in the area, so his accent is a bit more 'upper-class' than the normal accent.

Altered States. Wow, that brings back memories. My college friends and I saw it in the theater. We were completely blown away by the experience. One of the guys found a place nine hours from us with horizontal flotation tanks. The sensory deprivation was interesting, but feelings and thoughts and taste were all much more intense afterward.

This week I watched some Hammer House of Horror.

I can't believe there's a SAW V.

And Quarantine was pretty eerie.

Johnny Mnemonic...

Falls into the- yes, William Gibson was great at coming up with intruiging Sci Fi concepts but he can't write for poo- category. It doesn't help that this was before Keanu Reeves settled into his style so he keeps putting dramatic pauses everywhere. Its like he can't remember his damn lines.

Otherwise, reasonably fun in a rather crap way.

Vantage Point.Enjoyable.I like that sorta film.
Dusk Til Dawn 2-shockingly bad-in a funny way.Well it made me cringe in an 'what the hell' way.
Hellboy 2. Yeah-Good. Bit disappointed with the ending though. Guilermo does think up some wonderful creatures doesn't he.

I rented that last weekend and really liked it too.

I also watched "In Bruges" (funny, different than I expected) and "Becoming Jane".

In the last couple weeks I've recorded 14 films off HBO. Today will see me snuggled up on the sofa working my way through them.

Battle Royale for the first time in 4 years.

Ah, the gulf in the quality of the acting is ridiculously visible upon repeat viewings.

Still brilliant though.

This film is not yet rated? Briliant film - worth everyone watching just to see how ludricrous the ratings system is. Also how unjustifiable it is that stuff like Saw can get made whilst anything that has any sexual maturity to it has to bow and scrape and cut cut cut until there's practically no film left.

To lower the tone slightly, I saw Superhero Movie last night. It was no-where near as bad as I was expecting - it was actually really funny in places. What they've done, which Meet the Spartans et al really didn't do - was have pop culture references and then FOLLOW IT UP WITH A JOKE not just have references to Britney shaving her hair and expect everyone to fall over in bouts of hilarity.

I hate meet the spartans.

The Bride of Frankenstein - one of the few sequels that is as good, if not better than the original. A little humor was injected into this film, without it becoming way too apparent. I particularly like the way Big Frank takes to smoking and drinking like a duck to water.

A Paralyzing Fear: The Story of Polio in America; really good documentary about the epidemics of polio in the US in the 20th century. Plenty of archival footage as well as interviews with victims of the disease. I didn't realize that there was a specific reason why FDR was put on the dime after he died, but there was actually a natural connection; the March of Dimes, began in the '30s, to support polio treatment, and of course, his affliction with the disease.

'Men Behind The Sun' - Disturbing (in a 'Schindler's List' kind of way) but pretty good film. Based on a true story about a WWII Japanese POW camp where they tested biological weapons on Chinese prisoners.

'Max Payne' - Utterly disappointing. It took all the best aspects of a great game & ruined them. The most exciting part was a cameo by Daphne from Heroes.

'Day of the Dead' (2008 remake) - Watchable, but probably only because I love zombies so much. Not a patch on the original. Predictable as hell & stupid even for a zombie movie.

Max Payne. Yeah. A film made by people who have either not seen the film or completely missed the point if they had.

I just watched the first ten minutes of Meet The Spartans.

Max Payne. Yeah. A film made by people who have either not seen the film or completely missed the point if they had.

I assume you mean 'game' not 'film'...

Yeah. Really haven't woken up yet today...
You think you're a ninja. Kee-ai! You start with a point in Brawl and a point in Melee, but Firearms can never be raised above zero, as guns are anathema to your Code of the Silent Killer. Ducks too. Ducks are anathema too.

Chocolate - A thai martial arts film from the team behind Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong.

Absolutely briliant :) brutal fights as you'd expect but also a plot that's not completely superflous... always a plus :)

Is Max Payne a good film if you haven't played the game though?

The Departed. Some seriously bad acting and accents in this.Glad they all
Spoiler

No Country For Old Men. Very cool. The end suprised me.

I will be watching Silent Hill for the first time tonight. I've heard so-so reviews. Plus I adore Silent Hill 2 with a passion, so I'm bound to be disappointed, aren't I?

Just saw Burn AFter Reading.

BRILLIANT.

Beautifully acted, delightful plot that was ridiculously complicated yet nicely simple, and very funny.

Ace.
