Brrrrrr!
Bring your thermals, folks!
And I think this has decided the programme of entertainment for Sunday:
SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!!
seriously folks, if you can leave earlier and allow extra time for your journeys, so much the better. If not, at least wrap up warm and make sure you've got plenty to do while you're stuck on the train/bus/whatever!

I have an idea that will revolutionise the britsh transport system- Waterproof singal points. These would be made out of something water resistant, like metal for instance, instead of the mash potato or whatever they use now that seems to completely dissolve in the slightest drizzle!

This is true. Even with feet of snow and / or -46C wind chills (like last night) we never get a break. Are expected to be everywhere on time, etc etc even if it means getting up at 430am to shovel all the snow, get ready for work, shovel out the end of the drive because the plow went past and there's now a huge barricade at the end of it* because you need to leave at least an hour earlier than usual because traffic will be a nightmare (there's us grinding to a halt) and you're expected to be at work by 8am, no excuses.
*If they've been out yet, and often they haven't because it's still snowing so would be pointless. Or there are scenarios like my parents--live on a farm three miles off a main road. More often than not the plows don't come for several days--the longest I can remember was a five-day wait. Which meant they couldn't go to work (and didn't get paid), coudn't get groceries or other necessities; and what if they had a medical emergency? Just because snow and cold is something that's normal, it's not all fun and games...or convenient.
