Auction of Promises

One of the activites under consideration for TRtD is an auction but of promises, rather than actual things, e.g.
'I promise to make a cake of the choice of the highest bidder'
'I promise to do a free service on the highest bidder's car'
This way, peopel who can't come to the meet can still contribute.

Any thoughts?
