How Many Steps Will We Take? Just for fun

So, how about a quick non-money-changing-hands sweepstake?
I want to know how many steps the team will take over the two days of the 24 Peaks Challenge.
Please post your guesses below, the closest will win some sort of tat prize, donated by me.
Some hints and limitations:
1) The 24 Peaks Challenge is a total distance of 51.7 kilometres miles over 2 days. The gains and losses in height are around 21,000 ft over the two days.
2) The approximate distance taken by a 6' man in one stride is about 30".
3) We will only include steps taken on the walk. Blundering around the hostel after will not be counted. The value for the team as a whole will be made by taking an average based on the steps taken by the tallest and shortest team members.
And that's it. How many steps will the team as a whole (all 5 of us added togather) take over the course of the two days?

Well I would walk eight billion, seven hundred and thirty four thousand million, six hundred and thirty seven million, six hundred and thirty five thousand, seven hundred and fourty five miles! And I will walk eight billion, seven hundred and thirty four thousand million, six hundred and thirty seven million, six hundred and thirty five thousand, seven hundred and fourty five more! Just to be the man who walked eight billion, seven hundred and thirty four thousand million, six hundred and thirty seven million, six hundred and thirty five thousand, seven hundred and fourty five miles to wind up at your door!

But Biddle! An English billion is a million million! An American (and SI) billion is a thousand million. I assumed you were just being overly British, old chap!

Yes, that. That sounds like I didn't make a mistake. Good.
Still SI is the standard we're supposed to use. It's like cm's over inches & all that. Still, do like the old inches & yards, good for confusing the kids.

I am so confused. I know my guess was right though.

However, I don't think that is big enough, so my guess is 600,000.
