We all said it earlier lads, but I wanted to say it again to make it clear:

WE ALL DID THE NORTH PROUD TODAY.

You can't win it every year, and given the circumstances- players down, people kindly stepping up at the last minute, being a goal down and losing our 'keeper and running out of subs 5 minutes in, 3-1 at half time (there were LOTS of circumstances!), we played an absolute stormer to keep the score so close. It really could have gone either way in the last 10 minutes, and if it wasn't for the great opposition I'm sure we'd've won.

We conducted ourselves well and were gracious in defeat. Well done.

One last thing, you'll mostly hate it being fans of rival clubs, but some words of hope and encouragement for you all from Gerry and the Pacemakers:

When you walk through a storm
hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
and the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
walk on through the rain,
tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
and you'll never walk alone,
you'll never walk alone.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
and you'll never walk alone,
you'll never walk alone.

I appear to be unable to walk this morning.

Cheers for a great match with a top atmosphere, folks. :)

I'd just like to congratulate whoever came out with "MARK HITLER!" at one of our corners.

Well done folks and folkettes, it was very gracious of my fellow monkeys to let the southern pansies win!

It was much fun!

I hope Jamies knee recovers soon... I hope it's back on form soon Jamie, don't forget that it takes lots of tlc, beer, tea, ice cream and other good things to make a knee injury better!

I'm off now to make pom poms for 2008

To avoid the crowd trouble from this year's event it should be all ticket too. At least £1 to watch, thus making money for charidy.

Ok so maybe there wasn't any crowd trouble, but we can at least make money off the match that way.

The footy has a lot of scope to be made into something more- we should blatently have sacked off 'Spoons breakfast and had a massive pitchside BBQ instead. I shall rally the Jamins and see if we can do that next year...

I'm from North Yorkshire, don'tcha know! More Northern than you, probably, though not as posh.

You're not from North Yorkshire, you're from London, in a street near that giant fibreglass cat I believe.

And I'm not posh, I'm pretentious and stuck up. There's a difference.

And the Karate Kid was "wax on, wax off," wasn't it? I shan't be waxing anything before next year's football thankyou.

They could play before or after the football. Rounders would probably be easier to arrange (no court to sort out)

Hmm... I think adding bats to the equation would make any north v south match dangerous. Rounders may not work. Netball could though but I shall still be cheering as I'm rubbish at things like rounders.
