I took a couple of train journeys recently and left a letter on the train each time for someone to find to provide their journey with some fun! Here is my letter...

Greetings fellow rail passenger!,

I hope this letter finds you in good spirits and enjoying a pleasant and punctual journey! I often find travelling rather tedious and so decided to write this letter in the hope that someone (you!) might find it and be given something to do to pass the time! Here are a few ideas for making the time fly by on your journey!

1. One activity I enjoy which helps pass the time is inventing new words and phrases. Some of my favourites include Dribonger Quimp, Jerusticly Intense and Gratifyingly Sprunchproof. Feel free to use these words in conversation with family, friends and fellow passengers and apply any meaning you see fit! You may find such an activity decidedly grunksome (grunksome - adj - more enjoyable than jaffa cakes).

2. Why not scroll through the address book on your Mobile Telephone Communication Unit and text a friend you haven't spoken to for a while? You could even use a new word you've invented and await their confused reply!

3. Try playing a new game I've invented called Train Window Observational Game or TWOG. See how many of the following you see during your journey - however, they must be viewed through the window only! No cheating! Award yourself points as indicated.

-Man with beard (2 points)

-Woman with beard (10 points)

-Four legged animal (4 points)

-Aeroplane (3 points)

-Les Dennis (27 points)

-Disused building with broken windows (1 point)

-Someone running for a train and missing it (5 points - give yourself a bonus point if you can catch their attention through the window and offer a sympathetic smile - but be careful not to look like you are enjoying their misfortune!)

-Man and woman wearing matching clothes (10 points)

-Man with shiny head (4 points)

-A man carrying a brass musical instrument ( 8 points)

-A man with a moustache which is a different colour to the hair on his head (7 points)

-A man wearing sandals and socks (6 points)

-Add 10 bonus points in the ticket inspector has a tattoo (you may ask them but only if they are wearing a hat)

Thanks for reading and may your journey be swift, happy and free from unpleasant smells!

Regards,

A fellow rail user.

I use more Planes than i use trains in fact i have never ridden on a train. Though i think i could do the same on a plane.
Just leave it for the stwardess's or something.

Good Idea......

Has anyone here ever been RAoKed by another Joinee? Or has anyone here ever unknowingly RAoKed another Joinee? With a few hundred thousand RAoKs every week it's bound to have happened once or twice, surely?

Mr Hunter, hope you and your Mrs are still up for showing us around :)

Hugs & thanks for a great RAoK idea.

I'm so glad so many people like the idea! I am intrigued though...you say you have translated it (presumably into Spanish) so what do my made up words translate to?

Also anyone travelling to a meet up (e.g. Stratford tomorrow) by train - chance to leave a letter...

I'm sorry, i tried to translate the made-up words, but i couldn't and add a sudoku instead... but the points game translated nicely and everybody liked it! (I showed a copy to my friends).

I think I'm going to do it every day this month, also, i was on the other side of the train and watched people laughing :D

I did this one the way up to Bristol last week.

I had a wordsearch, and suggested that readers pull faces at small children. I suggested trying to avoid their parents' seeing to make it more challenging.

One of my first ever RAoK was leaving post it notes all over a train
most of them said 'nice shoes!' or 'dayum, you look good today'
It made me smile at the thought of someone picking it up and smiling

I MAY have been a wee bit tipsy.....
