Sneakily hiding in a thread in general business it seemed there might be interest in a Manchester mini-meet so I thought I'd break out into its own thread...anyone keen?

And if so, what works best for folks? Weekend? Evening? Get together in a pub to plan raokness-extraordinaire? Mid-week evening from Feb onwards is good for me but happy to work around other folksies

Yay! Reminds me of the first time I met Amanda - awesome sauce.

Oh, right, not "your favourite man from the meet in Chester" then.

Having never made it to Chester that would be difficult, although I love this was your response to the thread title, K. Somewhat worried, but mainly just amused...could we entice you East one evening? You could even bring a friend or two... ;)

Yep. I'm in. It'd be pretty poor form if I didn't seeing as I'm local and I don't know anyone yet.

Feb would be better for me though if poss.

Definitely up for it. Week evenings are much my preference, because on the whole they're boring, with events weighted on the weekends these days. When did everyone get jobs?

sheli and i would most likly be up for this.

i was originally laying down a plan for a manc meet, however i think Sally was the first to actually start doing anything so i left it for her ( given that she's actually from Manc!) :)

I quoted you cos I thought you said Sheli was originally from Manc. I was going to get all indignant , and go on about how she's been living a lie, like she'd been born there then moved to Hull as a baby or something. Then I realised you said Sally, and couldn't be bothered to unreply, so instead just wrote this meandering explanation.

In short, sounds like fun. I'm in.

:( Maybe that just means we'll have to go to the pub...twice! :D

Sal / Watson - any suggestions on venue? Somewhere near Victoria would be perfect for me but anywhere central is fine too

Somewhere in the Northern Quarter perhaps? That's close to Victoria.

HUMPH!

Not to sound mardy or anything...(or actually, to sound mardy but I don't bloody care!) but the suggestion of said mini meet in other thread came from me, I live in Hull so can only do weekends.

Now I can't come to the meet I suggested!

It's bad enough you all (admittidly doesn't apply to you Tigs ;) ) get together during the week anyway! It's okay for my stupid boyfriend who lives an hour away from you all and has not much to do of a mid week.

Adam and I are up in Manchester one weekend in April I think.

Yeah. We are.

We could come to the pub then.

I'm free most weekends and wednesdays, I'll be here all year so whenever is good for you is good for me (with reasonable notice obvs, but you know that!) i'll keep my eyes open for a good venue. The only places I know well at the moment are student bars/pubs so I will see if i can find somewhere a bit more grown up  hehe. looking forward to it!

Ps Watson, if you're on facebook join the group! I'm trying to get to know more joinees nearby ^_^

Sorry, but it's still annoying. Craig and the liverpool lot see each other quite a lot, which I'm sure you'll get involved in when you move.

I wanted to be able to join in a mini meet for a change, not a super awesome big one.

(please don't take this personally Tigs, it's not meant as an attack on you, just venting my frustration at living miles away from ANYONE and stuff constantly being arranged that I can't join in with - including stuff that I suggest now..)

It'd be quite nice to do a weekend, can make a day of it, don't have to rush round after work, and we could do some nice RAoKy things for the scummy Mancs (;) ) as well as a catch up and general funness!

Any ideas when is best for people?

Hurrah for lots of interest!

For those who can do mid-week evenings...Weds Feb 3rd is still good for me (and is my first week up north so I'm keen to see folk if pos) - now we just need a pub :)

For those who can do / prefer a weekend, I'm quite limited on free weekends (although Feb 27th / 28th is looking good) so how's everyone else set for dates?

And Mistress Amanda, I very much look forward to heading across to the land of the Liver - just somewhat more of a mission than Manc ;) But oh my, it *will* happen! And Hebba you're welcome to a sofabed in Mytholmroyd if you ever need it

After much deliberation, we're going to attempt a mini-meet on Weds, Feb 3rd (next week) at The Footage on Grosvenor Road - I'll prob be there from about 7 and with any luck I'll see some of you there too. Looking forward to it!

Sorry guys, you've picked the one night I will definitely not be going - it's the Leeds - Spurs FA Cup replay, and, as such, I shall be doing nothing but watching the football.

I'd say enjoy yourselves anyway, but you know as well as I d that that won't happen without me thre. I'm fairly awesome, to be fair.

Marbella-lous!

With the exception of Craig & Shellster being unavailable. :( Take the point re: weekends - would be ace to see a weekend meet happen in Manchester at some point but just now I can't help on that front as my weekends are chocka.

I'm the rubbish. I've double booked myself and hereby declare myself too foolish to try and organise a get together. If the 18th still works for folk maybe it would make more sense to do it over in Liverpool given the larger contingent seems to be coming from that way? Foolish, foolish Tigger...

I could do Liverpool but weekends would be a lot lot easier. Could possibly do a weeknight but would need a bit o notice.

Am I right in saying that with Tigger out we're knocking tomorrow on the head until another date is sorted?? Just checking as I don't want to turn up in the (as yet unnamed) pub and realise that I'm actually just Joining myself for a drink.

Hye everyone, me and and Tiggs were talking about this again last night and I will hopefully be sorting something out late august/early september. I will do my best but I have holidays/moving/work all around then, although I can always find time to manage a visit to the pub with lovely people so watch this space ;)

Whatever it was, as a representative of Manchester, we forgive you.

I’m in. Just let me know when.
