Hello,

Now that we've helped the 24 Peaks team reach their goal (yay!), and Rufous survived the marathon (hurrah!) I thought it might be a good idea for other people needing donations to list them here. Some of you have gotten lost in the craziness and it's only fair your goals are met and charities helped too.

Even if your links are in your signatures can you list them here? (Some of us block signatures.)

I know Stooz and Mark are both doing bike rides, Whitby was doing something (has that happened and we missed it?), Eli is off to Peru soon, Phil H is off south of the equator too.

I know if they're all in one place it'll make it easier for me to donate. AND today's pay day... ;)

Thanks and good luck!

:) Michelle

There is something in the pipeline...

...it'll involve Joinees...

...there's some discussion in this thread already...

...but we haven't quite gotten the announcement ready yet because we'd been asked to wait to make sure the 24 Peaks people were completely happy first.

So, basically, there'll be an invitation to everyone to get involved in something in a few days. :)

It becomes more like school here every day...... "Wait to see if the 24 peaks people were entirely happy"? With what? Are they going to check that every note and copper coin is real now too? ;)

And if anybody wants to help me out for this weekend, I'm doing a run for Testicular Cancer. Running my bol**cks off

(I've reached my target for my bike ride, so I'm happy for any monies to go to others rather than towards that now)
Help me reach my targets on my London to Paris Cycling challenge.

That was my point entirely--people get fixated on one and the others get left in the dust. :)

Glad to hear your bike ride target is met (I tried a few times to donate but the site didn't like me). I'll try again with for run this weekend. Good luck on both!

so far I have raised £180 from people at work

I have also set up a justgiving accout, although this goes directly to the charity & so my work won't match it

In what's a slightly similar thing to this project, a group of comedians with a few people I know in it are climbing Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike in 24 hours. Yikes.

Anyway, here's the page of one of them: http://www.justgiving.com/vinceatta

I couldn't even consider doing anything like this; completely insane.

This lot of extremely talented of actors-activists (http://vichama.blogspot.com) need support for their tour in Asia. They were given fundings only for their airfares and life in Korea costs a freakin bundle. They're thinking about making t-shirts here (Peru) and selling them abroad. E-mail me if you'd like to contribute:)

Thanks

Hello all,

am attempting to raise £2000 for the British Horse Society by doing a week long trek in Jordan in April.

the details are to be found under this magic button.

I also hope to be doing some fundraiser-y type things over the winter - the money needs to be with the BHS by Feb(!). If anyone has any ideas / wouldn't mind helping please do let me know. This is my first ever attempt at fund raising, so I'm a little nervous I won't make it!

Thank you everyone.

D. xx

I'm a brand spanking new joinee and I'm jumping out of a plane for Build Africa in October. If anyone wants to indulge in a RAoK that would be jolly nice.

If I don't raise the funds I might not get a chute...

Cheers guys - just getting into the joinee spirit - gonna try the totally random Just Giving donation tomorrow!
Please donate towards me jumping out of a plane else they might not give me a parachute!

Hello all,

I need your help!

I am doing a charity cycle ride for MAG (The Mines Advisory Group) in June, and have a hefty sponsorship amount to raise.

On the 6th June I will leave London to cycle to Amsterdam, then onto Brussels for the 8th June. That's quite a trek, I'm sure you will agree.

I need donations, but that's not the only way you can help, I will also be extremely grateful if you can offer unwanted Christmas presents, offers of service, or any other items I can use as raffle prizes or auction lots.

More information can be found on my web site: www.challengebee.org

More information on MAG can be found on their website: www.mag.org.uk
Essentially they visit areas of recent conflict and help clear mines, disarm weapons and rebuild communities affected.

Thank you for your generosity. Any questions, just email me at matt@challengebee.org

And if anybody wants to help me out for this weekend, I'm doing a run for Testicular Cancer. Running my bol**cks off

That's a really good cause!

I've never posted about this before because i've never even thought about it until I had to find a picture for the Hollyoaks thread today.

I lost my grandad just before I was born to cancer, and although i'm yet to do anything major, where I can (proceeds from non-uniform days [doesn't sound much but it's a grand per non-uni], sponsored walks etc.) I try to use school-council and personal clout to steer some of the the money towards Everyman (normally unsuccessfully actually - school council is v. unimaginative with where we send money - it's always the same predictable [though worthwhile] charities)

This normally gets into the papers and magazines through celebrities doing their bit for them (ok - normally stripping off), but male cancers are under-diagnosed, which is why I'm really strongly for this charity.

Everyman Clicky

Although a lot of their ideas for you are sport-based, like any charity, they accept funding from most things. They're currently looking for runners for the Edinburgh Marathon 2008 and a few other things.

If anyone does want to help with any of that, it's a great charity, although I know we already support a lot of them.

I might try and plan something for next year. Hmmm... that's got me thinking now.

Edit:
I've found a donate page. :)

Everyman - Donate

And I've just started planning something which could, potentially, be very good.

There's a lad running the Bupa 10k for the charity Shelter at work with me.

He started a Justgiving site and mailed everyone at work but they just tend to get lost in the general deluge of nonsense, and so he's just been round with a paper based sponsor form.

I'm going to kick his online donations off now, and I just thought I'd bring it to people's attention in case it's a charity they support.

Hello,

On 4 September, I'm going to be running 11 miles in the Scottish/English Borders. This is going to be particularly challenging for me this year as I've only started training for it this week, after not being able to exercise for 4 months due to a bad back.

Anywhoo, if any of you lovely people would like to sponsor me, then head towards www.justgiving.com/peebledashers (sorry, don't know how to make it clicky)

Ta very much.

Hello hello.

As I've mentioned and blatantly name dropped lately, there's a sponsored bicycle jaunt happening in December that I'm quite excited about. So is Chris Hoy, he said so himself.

We're riding for the RNLI, and apparently we are 'justgiving'. We're going from Weston-super-Mare (near Bristol) to Poole, across the channel and all around Normandy taking in what we can and being a nuisance.

If you want to furnish us with money, or just want to read up a bit more, please go here:

http://www.justgiving.com/ridenormandy

We'll be updating it now and then, I'm fairly sure it's going to be a funny few months.

Thanks ^_^

Fray.x

EDIT: Just thought I'd update a little. We've been going it at hard for a week or so now, speaking to press and whatnot. Everything is going pretty grand and already we're scratching around the £500 mark so uber thanks to everyone who has helped us out :)

Hello. Those shoes are amazing! Gucci, surely?

I'm doing a 5k sponsored run in Liverpool on the 7th December, dressed as Santa!! This is a big step for me as I am useless at exercise and it may turn my occasionally runs into a more permanent thing! I'd love to be able to go the great north run one day, but baby steps hey? :P

Anyway, I am running for The Scoliosis Association as they are a charity very close to my heart. As much as I enjoy being a cyborg, I'd love to prevent it from happening to someone else as it can be a bit of a pain (quite literally).

If anybody feels like they wish to donate, this is a link to my JustGiving Site.

Or if anybody wishes to support me (and I need all the support I can get), my facebook group is here.

Thanks for listening! :)

Edit: Because links are hard!

I'd not noticed there was a dedicated thread for charity requests to apologies for the double posting.

Kieran and me are driving from London to the capital of Mongolia (about 10,000 miles) from the Christina Noble Childrens' Foundation. http://www.cncf.org/...outmongolia.php

If you'd like to sponsor us then that would be brilliant. You can find our Just Giving page at http://www.justgivin...dlifecrisis2009 and our website at http://www.mongolrally2009.org/.

If you have an questions at all then please feel free to mail me at matt.whitby@gmail.com.

Hi can I join in here? I am doing the Channel Swim Challenge for Aspire. The challenge involves swimming 22 miles, the length of the Channel, in 12 weeks. It started on Monday 14th September and runs until Sunday 6th December. I have already swam 5500 meters, 29900 to go! Here are the links: Aspire Channel Swim Challenge

Hey all,

Myself and a close friend are doing a charity Jailbreak. This does not mean i'm breaking out of jail, what it does mean is that we are starting in Bangor, North Wales, and getting as far as we can from that point in 36 hours, with out spending ANYTHING on travel. some people have made it as far as morocco and tenerife by blagging their way onto airliners so we're looking to do as good as/better than them.

Haven't decided what charity we're going to do it for, because it's still in the planning process, but i'll keep you updated if you'd like to sponsor us :)

all the best,

Joe x
