Sssssh Valentines day secretsss

I need help!!!!!!!

I know I know in many many ways , but on this particular occasion I am looking for advice and inspiration. My husband and I have been married for nearly fifteen years!!!! We did however have quite a serious blip, which involved me leaving and moving back to East Anglia for over a year until we realised life wasn't quite the same without each other and the and decided to work our little butts (not so little in my case)to put it back together.

We are now genuinely happier than ever , but like many others we are somewhat skint. we have arranged to go down to Suffolk so our daughter can catch up with her friends in half term which is the week that valentines day falls in.....So the cause of my quest is to ask for inspired ideas of romantic things to do or give which take some effort and not too much monies???????

Ideas please?????
So, I need some help. Me and Rach (Burns) have applied to be on Only Connect, the BBC4 quiz show.

We did rather well in our application, and have been invited to audition in Birmingham on Sunday the 19th Feb. However, we only have two team members, and need a third. If you fancy it, let me know!

Dating...

I broke up with my ex a few months ago - a total relief which was a long time coming! I feel mostly a sense of freedom, it's great! I've not really looked any anyone else since, been stayng away from guys in general (other than friends of course) just because I thought it may be prudent to not jump into anything too soon.

WELL, I met a lovely guy the other week. He's actually a friend of a friend and we've known each other for awhile, though only through my friend. Kinda more aquaintances than anything else. Anyways, a few weeks ago I had a dinner party for a friend's birthday and she invited him...I love throwing dinner parties, so I went totally OTT and laid out a massive feast. The guy was pretty much raving about the food and kept telling me (and everyone else) how good it was. Afterwards we all went out for a walk (as you do after a few drinks...wander outside to get some fresh air) and everyone else raced back to the house but the two of us just walked around the block with my dog for a bit before headng back to the house. He was really easy to talk to!

Two weeks later I had another dinner party for the original friend's boyfriend's birthday - again I volunteered to cook. Well this guy tells the birthday couple he wants to help me cook. I thought it was kind of sweet but didn't want him to go to any trouble...anyways it turns out he loves to cook as well, but the kitchen in his flat is pretty basic so he doesn't get the chance to. We were just joking around and having a good time, we both love talking about food so there wasn't really a lull in the conversation once we started talking. There even came a point in the evening we got to chatting and a few of our friends just looked puzzled why we were cracking up.

ANyways this is the first guy I've kinda maybe liked since breaking up with my ex. He's goodlooking, polite, a lovely guy, and he's great with my dog. We're into a lot of the same stuff, and we were totally saying stuff out of each others mouths all night.

I texted him the next day because I'd seen a wee something out in town that reminded me of a random conversation we'd had, and as it was only a couple of quid I bought it to give to him. Me and my friend dropped it off at his mum and dad's because they live quite close. He didn't text me back immediately so I just put it out of my mind...then he texted last night to say he'd been working flat out all weekend so hadn't texted back. It took me ages to reply because I was run off my feet at work today, so mid afternoon he sent me a message on facebook asking how my doggy was.

All sounds great, but I went and had a quick gander at his facebook page and he is kinda way out of my league. I mean, he's out all the time, he's got about a billion friends (not just fb ones), in every picture there's a pretty girl hanging off his arm. I know he told my friend he's single at the moment when she asked, and it kinda was brought up the other night when we were alone - he knows about my arsehole ex and he said his ex had totally broken him (pretty much the same situation happened with him and his ex and his dog as hat happened with mine, but I managed to get my wee boy back). He just seems to be one of those people who is good at everything, is either working or out every night...

I'm kinda boring in comparison, and I feel kinda frumpy next to these girls he hangs out with. He's a few years younger than me and he still likes to aprty - I do as well, but I just think maybe my lifestyle is a bit boring for him? My self confidence has been totally shot through years with a guy who put me down all the time, and I don't feel myself anymore.

So all you lovely folk who've gotten back on the dating horse after breaking up with someone - how did you do it?

blog platforms

I am planning on starting a blog soon, mainly a place for me to witter and ramble about teaching.

In the past I have used Blogger and am currently having a half hearted affair with Tumblr.

I want somewhere that is easy for me to use (as I don't know codes and stuff - I just want to be able to pick a layout and go) but also somewhere where I can connect with other people who are interested in / writing about the same or similar subjects. These are literally my only 2 requests.

I'm considering just going with Tumblr, *but* I will be mostly writing, not sharing pics and videos and stuff... so I'm not sure if there would be a better platform for me to use? Also, I find it slightly difficult to actually search for things that interest me on Tumblr, I can only seem to look at blogs which are suggested to me so I'm not sure I'd be able to find the right community there?

Any bloggers facy giving me any advice? Whether it's suggesting a platform you think would be good for me or giving me some insight into how to make one I've already used for this purpose? Thanks!

Absorption rate.

I haven't been in school for a long time. My powers of absorption have waned.

Do any of you have tricks or practices to help retention? Especially when it comes to complex technical data?

I'm not talking to the naturally gifted folk with eidetic memories who needn't ever study. (Unless you have insight into attaining such a memory!)

I'm talking to those who became brilliant through hitting the books.

Most things come easy. Techno babble gobbledy gook is a different story. How many times should I have to read something before I can think, "OH! I get it!"

edit to add question: Why does a sponge absorb with a B? and then have an absorption rate with a P? Shouldn't it absorp? Who thinks up this stuff?

It got me to wondering...what did you want to be when you grew up and is it anything like what you do for a living now?

I did get to be a field studies instructor for a little while in the end but I had to live in a shed.

Receipt of stolen goods

Right, so my thing I bought off of eBay (see PayPal dispute thread) turns out to have been reported stolen in Australia. Possibly several years ago. Obviously going to hand in to police, as I can't do anything with it legally (or morally!) knowing it is stolen.

My question is, is there any way of getting your money back (from anyone) if you accidentally purchase stolen goods? I have inadvertently ruled out the option of disputing this through PayPal. I raised a dispute when the item was late, and when it arrived in pefect working order, I closed the dispute. You can't re-open a PayPal dispute, you're meant to be 100% sure everything's ok, and change the dispute reason if not. So, my bad. Sort of. Well it was working so I thought everything was ok. It's taken me nearly a week to find out its stolen, it's been a fairly complicated process.

Having researched section 75s a fair bit this evening, looks like stolen goods aren't covered for refunds from your credit card company, and neither are purchases through PayPal anyway. BUT, might they still be worth a try? Seems absurd that by doing the right thing I will be out of pocket.

Is there any sort of victim of crime fund type thing? Or do I just have to spend the next year paying off a credit card bill for something I don't even own, and next year paying for its legitimate replacement?

I should add, I'm not entirely sure the seller is aware it was stolen. It's not brand new, they may have received it in good faith. Gonna give all her details to the police anyway, but still...

Also, which police do I contact about this?! Shouldn't imagine it's worth notts police being bothered about, but might need UK crime reference number. But I want the ozzy to get their goods back too...

Im new... but one day, I wont be

I found out about this group a while back but refused to join until I finished reading Join Me. Sadly, the fantastic idea of join me is an unknown topic in my area of living. So I decided to get the word out. So after about a month of that I started a local group of people following the same ideas of this group. Also Danny is a phenomonal writer, his books made me laugh, and they inspired me. Nice to finally join though!
